COAST & EquityBd position paper ahead of the World Bank and IMF annual meeting from 12-18 October 2026 in Bangkok.

The Global Week of Action is taking place from 12–18 October 2026 in Bangkok, ahead of the World Bank–IMF Annual Meetings. Activists and civil society organizations worldwide are calling for systemic reforms to the global financial system, including debt cancellation, the establishment of UN-led tax governance, and a just energy transition.

Critics argue that the policies of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have contributed to structural economic inequalities, environmental degradation, and unequal power relations, particularly in developing countries. They contend that the current global financial system disproportionately benefits economic elites and corporations while placing a heavier burden on vulnerable populations. The following outlines the positions and demands of EquityBD and COAST Foundation in Bangladesh in the context of the Global Week of Action. Please download full report click here
