The solar panel distribution program in to the water gypsy families was taken place on the Meghna River Bank in Bhola on October 19, 2015. The event was with the support by Enhanced Coastal Fisheries project (ECOFISHBD) funded by USAID and technical support by WorldFish, Government of Bangladesh and Department of Fisheries. COAST Trust is implementing the project in the Tentulia and the Meghna river sanctuary zones in Bhola Sadar, Dalutkhan, Borhanuddin and Monpura Upazilas in Bhola district.
To ensure the electricity facility in the gypsy families ECOFISHBD project provided 44 solar panels among the hard core water gypsy fisher families and set up into their boat with free of cost. The package also consisted of mobile charger, portable light, etc. The Deputy Commissioner of Bhola was chief guest of the event and he appraised the initiatives.
