COAST Foundation, a proud member of Start Fund Bangladesh since 2018 and now officially part of the Start Network in the UK since the beginning of 2025, has been honored as a “Safeguarding Champion”. COAST was one of five organizations to receive this prestigious award at the “Safeguarding Marketplace” event held in Dhaka on 27 February 2025.
The event, organized by Start Fund Bangladesh, brought together member organizations and funding partners to showcase their safeguarding policies, best practices, and innovative approaches to embedding safeguarding within organizational culture. The main objective was to share lessons learned from Start Bangladesh’s Safeguarding System Strengthening Initiative and create an interactive platform for organizations to present their work on “Safeguarding and Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PSEAH). “
The event saw participation from local and international NGOs (LNNGOs and INGOs), all sharing their safeguarding mechanisms, response systems, and reporting processes. Mr. James Goldman, British Deputy High Commissioner and Development Director at the British High Commission Dhaka, attended as the Chief Guest. He emphasized the importance of strengthening safeguarding through peer learning, policy development, and better coordination— highlighting that a collective commitment to safeguarding leads to safer communities.
COAST Foundation sincerely appreciates this recognition and extends its gratitude to Start Network for organizing such an insightful and impactful event that leads to a safer organizational culture.
