Bhola, 12 August 2019: A girl of class six in Char Sifoly village in Char Samaia union of Bhola sadar upazila was raped on night before Eid day while she went to neighbor’s house for putting hena on her hand. Police arrested both the perpetrators named Al Amin (25) son of Syed Ahmed and Manjur Alam (30) son of Kamal Mistri, who dragged the girl to Al Amin’s house and raped her.
COAST colleagues in Bhola office first taken her to the Bhola Sadar hospital who referred her to Barisal Medical College Hospital for better treatment. As she was severely wounded and continued bleeding, she was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). COAST officials arranged the ambulance and accompanied her to DMCH. On the way to Dhaka she was taken to Faridpur Sadar Hospital for some emergency treatment as her health condition was deteriorating.
The father of the victim is a poor farmer and was outside for some Eid shopping on that evening when she along with her sister went to their neighbor’s house for putting hena on their hands.
COAST officials helped the family to file a case to the police station of Bhola Sadar thana. Bhola police took the case quite seriously and went for immediate action and arrested both the rapist Al Amin and Manjur.
Bhola Police Super Mr. Sarkar Mohammad Kawsar said in a press conference about this perpetrators that they also have been involved in piracy in the Bhola fishing zone for years and police was looking for them.
